Hurghada Hula Hula Island Yacht Trip | Snorkeling, White Sand Beach & Lunch 2026

The boat was late. Again. Of course it bloody was.

We stood there sweating for twenty-five minutes before they finally let us on. But once the speedboat got going and that warm Red Sea wind started whipping across the deck, carrying the sharp smell of salt mixed with a hint of diesel, I started to relax a bit.

Look, I’ve lived in Hurghada for over ten years now. I’ve done this Hula Hula Island yacht trip more times than I should admit. It used to be called Paradise Island back in the day. People still call it that sometimes. It’s one of the more popular island trips, especially if you want something a little calmer than the usual Orange Bay madness.

The first snorkeling stop wasn’t bad. The water was clear enough and there were decent numbers of fish around the coral. The crew handed out the gear quickly enough. They even jumped in to help the nervous ones.

But here’s where it starts to annoy me. The boat fills up fast. Really fast. You end up squeezed in with big groups and their loud conversations. Then the music kicks in. Same Egyptian pop song on loop. The music was loud, I forgot my earplugs. By the third time round I was ready to throw the speaker overboard.

Why this Hula Hula Island yacht trip still gets booked

To be fair, the white sand beach is genuinely nice. Soft under your feet. The shallow water makes it easy for families and anyone who doesn’t fancy swimming too far out. You get a couple of hours to swim, take photos on those stupid swings they have, or just lie there doing nothing. That part I actually enjoy.

Lunch though? Basic. Rice, some grilled chicken or fish, a bit of salad. It fills a hole after swimming but it’s nothing to write home about. And surprise surprise, the drinks on board cost a small fortune. Four dollars for a Coke. Taking the piss, honestly.

The second snorkel spot can be better or worse depending on the current and how many other boats are stacked up. Some days the visibility is decent. Other days it’s just average. That’s Red Sea boat trips for you.

Overall it’s not a bad day out. The combination of snorkeling, white sand beach and lunch on the water works for a lot of people. Just don’t expect a quiet private island experience. This is Hurghada. Crowds come with the territory.

A flat here costs less than a garage back in the UK, and this sort of trip is basically your weekend backyard if you live here. Just saying.
