Continue Browsing TripsHurghada Dolphin House VIP small group snorkeling yacht. Guaranteed dolphin sighting for $60-90? Sounds exclusive. Reality: still wild dolphins, smaller boat but same old problems. Honest review after 10 years living here.
The van was on time. Finally. First time in months.
We got to the marina. Only eight of us. Felt almost civilised. Then the yacht left and that warm Red Sea wind rushed over the deck, carrying salt, sunscreen and a faint smell of fresh coffee from the galley. For once it didn’t feel like a cattle boat.
Look, I’ve lived here over ten years. I’ve done the normal Dolphin House trips plenty of times. This VIP small group version is the one people pay extra for. They promise “guaranteed dolphin sighting”. That’s the main selling point.
The boat is noticeably nicer. Less crowded. More space to move. The crew actually had time to help everyone with the gear. They were calmer. Less shouting.
To be fair the smaller group makes a real difference. You’re not fighting for space. The guides stay in the water longer with you. When the dolphins appeared they stayed around for a good twenty minutes. Everyone got decent views. The water felt cooler and clearer than usual.
But here’s what still annoyed me. Even on the “VIP” yacht the music was the same awful Egyptian pop on repeat. The music was loud, I forgot my earplugs. By the third loop I was ready to throw the speaker overboard.
Lunch was a step up from the standard boats. Grilled fish tasted fresher. Salads actually had some crunch. Still boat food though. Nothing you’d write home about. And yes, the drinks were still stupidly expensive. Four dollars for a small bottle of water. Taking the piss.
The second snorkel stop was decent even without dolphins. The reef had more life than I expected. But the “guaranteed sighting” is marketing speak. Dolphins are wild. Some days they show. Some days they don’t. That’s the risk you pay extra for.
Overall this VIP Dolphin House small group snorkeling yacht is the best version of the trip if you hate crowds and don’t mind the higher price. It’s calmer, the crew care more, and your chances with the dolphins are genuinely higher. Just don’t expect miracles.
A flat here costs less than a garage back home, and this sort of smaller, quieter day on the water is what I actually look forward to on my days off. Just saying.
