Full-day scuba diving Hurghada: the setup

The van arrived. On time. Surprise.

We drove to the dive centre. Met our guide. Karim. Fifteen years experience. Smiled. Checked cards. Professional.

The group was small. Four divers. Private option. Worth the extra cost. Sixty-five dollars per person. Private would be double. We shared. Fine.

The boat was decent. Not luxury. But shaded. Dive deck. Fresh water rinse. The crew helped with gear.

We left at 8am. Headed to Giftun. Two sites. First: Shaab Claudia. Second: Erg Somaya.

2 dive sites Red Sea: first dive

Shaab Claudia. Reef wall. Sandy slope. Easy entry.

Karim briefed us. Current mild. Max depth 25 metres. Hand signals. Entry and exit points.

We geared up. The gear was okay. BCDs a bit faded. Regulators worked fine. I brought my own mask. Always do.

Giant stride entry. Water warm. 27 degrees. 3mm suit perfect.

The reef was healthy. Big gorgonians. Soft corals. A turtle swam by. Ignored us. The group followed Karim. Easy current.

The full-day scuba diving with 2 sites delivered. First dive lasted 55 minutes. Saw moray eels. Lionfish. A huge Napoleon wrasse. My buddy saw a white tip shark. I missed it. Next time.

Surface interval. One hour. Lunch served. Rice. Chicken. Salad. Pasta. Basic. The rice was dry. The chicken was fine. But the view was good. And we were hungry.

The crew handed out fruit. Watermelon. Nice touch.

Small group diving Hurghada: second dive

Second site: Erg Somaya. Deeper. Max 30 metres. Possible drift.

Karim briefed us. Current moderate. Stay close. The group was small, so easy to manage.

We descended. The coral was even better. Table corals. Staghorn. A school of barracuda circled above. My buddy spotted a reef shark. Sleeping under a ledge. This time I saw it. Amazing.

The private diving tour advantage? No crowds. Other boats arrived but we were already in the water. Karim chose the timing well.

Second dive lasted 60 minutes. Air consumption good. Safety stop. Back on the boat.

The small group scuba Hurghada experience was smooth. No rushing. No waiting for others. Karim adapted to our pace.

Private diving tour Hurghada: the small issues

Gear rental cost extra. Ten dollars for BCD, regs, wetsuit. I brought my own. But budget for it.

The boat was fine but not fancy. Older than the photos. But clean. The crew worked hard. No complaints.

The lunch was average. Edible. Not memorable. The pasta was overcooked. The chicken was dry. But you're not here for the food.

The private option is expensive. Double the price. For four people, we shared. Still felt private. Karim gave us attention. No need to pay double unless you're a couple wanting total privacy.

The two sites diving Red Sea were both good. But similar. Next time I'd ask for a wreck. Karim said possible. We didn't ask.

Full day dive Hurghada: value for money

Sixty-five dollars. Two guided dives. Tanks, weights, lunch, transfers. Gear extra.

For a full day, that's good value. Back home, a two-tank boat dive costs double. In the UK, triple.

You get professional guides. Good dive sites. A safe boat. Basic food. Small group.

The multiple dives Hurghada experience was relaxing. No stress. Karim knew the sites well. Avoided crowds.

Worth it? Yes. For certified divers who want quality. For those tired of crowded cattle boats.

Should you book this full-day scuba diving tour?

Look. If you want luxury, rent a private yacht. Costs more.

If you want a solid day of diving with a small group, good sites, and a professional guide? Do this.

The gear rental is extra. Bring your own if you can. The lunch is average. Eat a big breakfast.

The coral gardens were healthy. The marine life was abundant. The turtle and shark were highlights.

My buddy and I agreed. Worth the sixty-five dollars. We'll book again. Maybe ask for a wreck next time.

A flat here costs less than a deposit back home. And having a dive boat with sharks and turtles in your backyard? Not bad for a Tuesday. Just saying.
